Summary of Main Activities and Policy Decisions June 2002 to May 2003.
- Adoption of Model Code of Conduct for Parish Councillors including Register of Interests.
- Adoption of Publication Scheme linked to Freedom of Information Act 2000
- Arrangements made for Minutes of Meetings to be displayed on Church and Community Centre Notice Boards in order to increase local awareness.
- Decision to set up a Parish Council website to include minutes of meetings and other relevant information.
- Participation in scheme to provide essential information for emergency services especially for people living alone.
- Liaison with police regarding possible speed restrictions.
- Identification of local priorities: recycling collection, police presence.
- Planting of bulbs on roadsides.
- Consideration of proposed footpath alterations at Oxendale Hall.
- New road sign for Carr Lane.
- Liaison with LCC regarding persistent flooding problems on Commons Lane.
- Donations to Mellor Brook Community Centre, Citizens Advice Bureau, East Lancashire Hospice, North West Air Ambulance.
Summary of Main Activities and Policy Decisions June 2003 to June 2004.
- Parish Council website established (www.balderstone.org), including map of Balderstone, general information about the work of the Parish Council, an annual report summarizing the main activities of the previous year, dates of meetings, agendas and minutes of meetings.
- Compliance with Publication Scheme linked to Freedom of Information Act 2000 through the website and public display of minutes on notice boards.
- Consideration and submission of comments to RVBC re planning applications and footpath diversion applications.
- Submission of comments to RVBC re unsightly areas and illegal tipping and excessive amount of weeds on footpath in vicinity of The Willows, Mellor Brook.
- Liaison with LCC re flooding problems particularly on Commons Lane and Higher Commons Lane and also re potholes and water leakages.
- Liaison with LCC and RVBC re road direction signs and footpath signs.
- Planting of yew trees at St Leonard’s Church Balderstone as part of the Church’s anniversary year programme of events.
- Donations to East Lancashire Hospice, North West Air Ambulance, Ribble Valley Citizens Advice Bureau, Mellor Brook Community Centre.
- Organisation of meeting at Mellor Brook Community Centre, with speaker from RVBC, re Boundaries Commission report.
- Arrangements for filling vacancy on the Parish Council created by the death of Councillor Gorse.
- Application for grant to purchase additional flower bulbs.
